Robert (Bob) A. Magnus, Sr., cherished husband of the love of his life, Holly (Moungey); devoted father of Kari (Tibor Gomory & his son Alex), Jane (Bill Stinson), Bob Jr. (Kathy), John (Jamie Hartnett), and Michael; and proud Papa of Jill and Grace Stinson, joined the choir of angels on December 24, 2016 with his family by his side.

Bob was born on October 22, 1934 in Milwaukee.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Stella, and his siblings, Dorothy, Edward (Bud), Melvin, and Donald.  He is also survived by his six sisters-in-law and dozens of nieces and nephews, whose spirit and love he treasured.

Bob loved his family first, but sports came a close second. Most of all he loved basketball, winning the MVP award of the 1955 European Theater U.S. Army Basketball Championship. Bob also coached a number of boys teams for St. Raymond’s Parish, winning close to 200 games, with a capstone victory in the 1981 Chicago CYO City championship. The trophy is still in the basement.  Bob was a gifted athlete, an avid bridge player, a rabid Green Bay Packer fan and proud shareholder of the team.

Bob and Holly had numerous adventures together and with their many dear friends, traveling to Europe 26 times. Mags was a member of the Dirty Dozen social club (don’t ask) and a 50+ year member of St. Raymond’s Parish where he participated in many musicals, sharing his beautiful baritone voice with the world.  CDs are available upon request.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to JourneyCare, whose staff provided loving and supportive care for Bob and his family. Donate to www.JourneyCare.org.
